The Czech connection.

A recent visit to the MetalScan offices in Crawley by Pavel Hudak and Jiri Micenko cemented long-standing relations going back to the 1980's. In the early 1990's when the communist walls came down, Pavel and Jiri were engineers with the Nova Hut Clement Gotwaldov Steelworks in Ostrava who had for some time serviced and installed spectrometers from Hilger Analytical via the state run instrument import agency. Seeing a new opportunity Pavel and Jiri founded Hilger s.r.o. to represent Hilger Analytical in the then Czechoslovakia. Laurie Palmer now Managing Director of MetalScan and then the Managing Director of Hilger established and signed the original agreements, which lasted until 2000 when the US Thermo Group closed Hilger Analytical.

We therefore have great pleasure in announcing that from February 1st 2008, Hilger s.r.o. is now the exclusive distributor for ARUN Technology and MetalScan Ltd in the Czech and Slovak republics. Hopefully it won't be long before we can report the fruits of renewed sales activity in these territories but the first exhibition opportunity will be the Foundry Days held in Brno Czech Republic in May.

Continuing the Czech connection we are pleased to welcome to MetalScan. Radek Janouskovec. Radek, from Trnova is a graduate of the West Bohemian University in Pilsen and also undertook postgraduate work in Adana Turkey. He will join our Research and Development team in early March 2008 as an electronics engineer working on new products.
