ARUN Technology  -- MetalScan Limited update

2006 has been an eventful year at ARUN Technology. In March 2006 the business was acquired from Ametek Inc., who had bought Solartron Analytical and also ARUN from the Roxboro group. A new company, MetalScan Limited was formed by the ARUN management specifically to arrange a management buyout of the ARUN Technology assets and business. At the same time the office and factory was moved to a new location in Crawley, south of London. Located in the Brunel Centre in Newton Road the new premises remind us of the great British engineers and scientists that have preceded us; a hard set of acts to follow, but all the staff are determined that ARUN will continue as one of the market leaders in the worldwide business of metals analysis. The formation of the new company also made it possible to gather together some previous members of the development team that had worked for Hilger Analytical in the 1990s.  That well respected and long established UK business was acquired by Thermo Electron in 1994 and then closed in 1998.

MetalScan Limited trading as ARUN Technology now has the advantage of a core of production, applications and service personnel who have spent many years with ARUN Technology on CCD based instruments, plus a sales, marketing and development team from Hilger with long-time experience in PMT based optical emission spectroscopy, as well as CCD optics. In addition, members of our team have spent time with Spectro Analytical, ARL and Thermo Electron as well as with industrial users of analytical instruments. The whole team represents more than two hundred years of relevant optical emission spectroscopy experience.

The increased development effort has already borne fruit with new products recently announced. For the last five years the MetalScan M2500 series has been the instrument of choice for first time users of metals analysers. So, as well as improving these entry level instruments, ARUN Technology has introduced the PolySpek series of desktop analysers for more demanding users, which offer improved performance, extended wavelength range, and more extensive software. Both series of instruments can now operate with a standard external PC using a USB connection. The PolySpek comes in a variety of models for ferrous and non-ferrous metals or multi base applications. No matter what materials you want to analyse and whether you are a first time user or you are replacing an older spectrometer, ARUN Technology now has an instrument to suit your application.

As a small but independent company, not tied to any of the large US companies, which incidentally all seem to be intent in taking over the world, ARUN Technology offers flexibility, relevant experience and a commitment to developing cost effective solutions to the analytical problems of the metals industry worldwide. We are happy to work with users, to develop new calibrations, new analysis techniques and software features.
